Plan to attend NLIHC’s first Voterization webinar of 2016, “Understanding and Overcoming the Challenges of Voter Registration,” on Wednesday, February 17, at 2:00 pm ET.
NLIHC will offer a series of Voterization webinars in the coming months to train advocates and service providers on how to carry out effective voter engagement efforts. Voterization refers to non-partisan voter registration, voter education, and get-out-the-vote activities carried out by housing and homeless service providers to engage their residents and clients in the democratic process. Strong participation by low income residents to make affordable housing a priority in the 2016 presidential election is of the utmost importance.
The February 17 presentation will provide background information on the importance of voting and discuss the rules governing voter registration efforts of 501(c)(3) organizations. The webinar will review the NLIHC Voterization plan and provide tips, best practices, and resources available for voter registration drives. The session will also explore some of the challenges presented by recent voter suppression efforts.
